During the summer I visited the Greek Island of Skaithos. Hidden beside new beach resorts the old way of life still goes on. I was really pleased to be able to find old olive trees with sheep and goats grazing. The gnarled olive trees are such wonderful shapes and cast deep shadows making a wonderful contrast of light and dark. I did a number of sketches on the spot and took a lot of photographs. Once back at my accommodation I was able to paint my sketches and try and catch the interest of the moment.
