Much of Sally's work features flower painting, landscapes and seascapes, capturing vibrant colour, energy and movement. Her customers are truly international, and her paintings are to be found in homes and boardrooms in many parts of the world.

Sally's corner of the world is a small village in the Hertfordshire countryside, although she also has a base in Cornwall, where she paints wild seas, calm mornings, boats and fishermen – she is deeply absorbed in all aspects of the coast, and can't stay land-locked for long.

Three Walk the Dog by the Poppyfield

Acrylic on board. 10 by 12 ins.

According to a farmer's wife who I met, poppies are not a crop that a farmer wants in his crop of wheat. For the artist it is like a special gift and it adds vibrancy, interest and life. This months painting of the month is one of several which came from the same sketch in my sketch book. The interest is the vibrancy of the poppies in the sun and the dark shadows at the edge of the field.
