A sketch was made from a headland rock. The late afternoon sun illuminated the tiny crevice in the rocks where a gully fed into the sea and created a tiny space for small rowing boats. The boats had been hauled up the 45-degree slipway out of the reach of the storm waves. There were deep blue-black shadows and bright patches of sun etching scene of bright yellow and purple blue. The edges of the boats were edge bright white in the sun. The interest was the interlocking shapes, the house roofs, the boats in sun and shadow and the bold blocks of colour.
