In the early summer Sally was asked by a friend from Cornwall to donate two small art works to be auctioned to raise money for charity.
On 19th October a Blind Charity Auction was held at The Music Room, a venue in South Molton Lane off Bond street in London in aid of the Paul d’Auria Cancer Support Centre.
Nearly one hundred unsigned works were ranged round the walls, including work by well known artists such as Maggie Hambling and Damien Hurst. Guests did not know whose work they were bidding for, and bid ‘blind’.
Invited quests paid a £25 entry fee. Guests mingled and were served canapés and drinks before the auction began. Images of the art works were projected onto the screen behind the Christies podium. Hugh Edmeades, the fine art auctioneer from Christies was in charge of the bidding. Sally’s paintings were sold for £600, but prices paid ranged from £50 -£1000s.
Sally was happy to donate her work and pleased with the sum they raised for charity.
Sally will not now be participating in this event due to the wedding of her daughter Katherine during the May Bank Holiday Weekend 2010. Sally hopes to take part in this event in 2011.

The Bay Restaurant won the Best Restaurant 2008 award. The Penzance Hotel is in a wonderful location overlooking Penzance harbour and mounts ay with terrific views from the restaurant with its floor to ceiling windows. It is a very light and airy space, perfect for gloomy winter days, for art viewing and maybe dining.
