One of my interests is skiing. My ski suit has to accommodate sun cream, goggles, and a hat, but also a sketch book and camera, so I may well look a strange Michelin man shape! Being able to stop long enough to draw anything is always difficult, because there is often a battle between what the artist might like to do and what the skier might like to do. As an artist I wish to sit in a café and sketch tiny mountain windows with net curtains and wonderful shadows, or trees wrapped in snow blankets and sculpted with sun and shadow, or trees with shadows almost as strong as the tree in tone, but as a skier I do not wish to be left behind by my friends.
