I have done a number of pieces using Church Cove the tiny fishing inlet near to the Lizard point in Cornwall as my inspiration. The cove is no more than a tiny crack in the rocks where a very steep slipway leads down the sea. Boats have been hauled up away from the waves. Above the slipway are a cluster of houses and above the houses a lane leading out of the valley. From the headland there is a view back towards Church Cove. In morning when the sun is high the colourful boats are etched brightly and their strong shadows look like cut outs.
