Acrylic on paper. 58 x 42in.
This is one painting from a series which I did to go in the Cromwell Suite in the R.Y.A. lounge at the Earls Court International Boat Show. The piece was done flat using brooms, brushes and old rags. Lots of paint on a broom allowed me to get the large movement I wanted to suggest the movement of the sea. The art piece was built up bit by bit until it seemed finished. The inspiration was Turner's late seascapes at the Tate Britain and my many visits to the coast of Cornwall.
