I often visit Pendeen Watch on the Penwith peninsula a few miles from Lands End in Cornwall. There is a spectacular view of the lighthouse and rocks off Lands End, but also along the cliffs past the many Cornish tin mine buildings.
This painting was one of a number done after sketching and photogrphing from Pendeen Watch on the Penwith peninsula in Cornwall. Here you can look south towards the rocks at Lands End.
It was late in the day and the sun was already low in the sky giving a slanting light and illuminating the sea spray from the large rollers hitting the dark cliffs. The sea spray looked like gold mist as it rolled inland.
