Sometimes the fields where I live have poppies growing in them. This is bad news for the farmer, but wonderful for me. This painting is of fields near Aldbury in the Chilterns. The sun was shining from behind the flowers lighting their edges and making them almost look on fire. Swallows screamed low over the fields as they scooped their insect lunch.
