In 2004 the railway line and station near my home was re-laid. 300 men worked in shifts day and night to get the job finished. I went to the station on a number of occasions to record and watch the activity. There was a great artistic feast to be had.
The collage 'Lifting rails' is of two men, one at either end of some stacked rails directing the lifting and removeal of the rails. The rails make a perspective picture, the red fluorescent jackets of the men add colour and interest and the crane at the edge of the art of the collage take the eye in and out of the picture as do the rails.
