I am in Cornwall quite often, both to deliver paintings and to renew my inspiration. On the Lizard peninsula in Cornwall is the tiny fishing hamlet of Cadgewith where the fishing boats are hauled up onto the shingle after each fishing trip. The boats on the shingle are the local fishing boats heaved out of the water onto the shingle to keep them safe when not out fishing. I love the bright colours, solid shapes and interlocking jigsaw shapes that the boats make, giving an almost three-dimensional feel to the art work. I have overdrawn onto the image with oil pastel after the torn and cut paper of the collage has dried.
