This painting is one of a series of paintings that I did after stopping to sketch and photograph a windwept hawthorn bush. The bush stood exposed to the gales and winds from the Atlantic and the west. It had just been raining so that both the red berries and the tree trunk glistened.
What interested me was the tree shape and the movement given to the tree by the constant blowing of wind against the branches.
