I have done a series of studies on men doing their daily work, and in particular the two fishermen shown here. In this art piece the fishermen are checking their nets for fish. The fishing net mesh funnels the eye in towards the men and their task. The bright waterproof coats of yellow and orange add interest.
The working fishing fleet of Newlyn in Cornwall is an ongoing source of artistic inspiration and I often sketch standing on the old Newlyn harbour wall looking across to the fishing boats.
