During one of my visits to Cornwall I went to Church Cove on the Lizard peninsula. Church Cove is a tiny crack in the granite cliffs where tiny fishing boats are hauled up a steep slipway away from the sea. There is a wonderful view of the harbour from the headland. When I visited, the afternoon sun was shining on the boats outlining their strong shapes and bright colours. The shadows of the boats were very strong. The sun on the slipway, the deep shadows and the houses beyond made a marvellous interlocking jigsaw of colour and shape.
I have used printing ink on paper and stencilling to build up the required shapes.
