The Old Almond Tree in Bloom

I have used water based ink on paper for this piece. I used a limited pallet of white, ultramarine blue, golden yellow and red to make this picture.

During a visit to Southern Spain in January I was able to follow one of the valleys into the hills where I passed old almond trees in bloom. The grass was faded and wintery, but this contrasted very well with the dark tree trunks, the pale sky beyond and the white and pale pink almond blossom. I liked the simplicity of the image.
